Background

Thirty years building software, currently retraining as a research scientist. My M.Res at the University of Reading focuses on the feasibility of constructing the first whole-cell computational model of a human platelet by extending the wcEcoli framework (Karr et al. 2012; Macklin et al. 2020).

Research interests

• Whole-cell modelling and systems biology
• Platelet activation, calcium signalling, and granule dynamics
• Reproducible computational pipelines (bringing modern software development to the lab)
• Practical applications of LLMs to scientific software engineering
• Use of AI in systems biology
